Mobile Application Design

This tablet and mobile application was designed around the concept of helping Evinrude make it easier to manage the marketing material, and speeding up the time it takes to get this material in their customer’s hands.

About Evinrude:

Evinrude is an American manufacturer of outboard motors. In their industry, most manufacturers build four-stroke engines because they are quieter and more reliable than their more powerful two-stroke counterparts.

Evinrude uses their direct injection technology to create two-stroke engines that marry power with all the qualities of a four-stroke.

My Involvement:

This design went through two fully developed concepts. Initially, Evinrude did not have a defined brand. Because of this, the only real direction we were given for the first concept was to base it on their website and marketing material. After launching the first iteration, they released their new brand guidelines. These no longer matched what we built, so we had to start over to create the design shown here.

The Ask

The Aisle Mobile Application

Evinrude approached our company to help them find an easier and more cost-efficient way to manage their marketing material.

The Solution

An application that would house brochures, product imagery, and product specifications that could be installed on the mobile devices (Android and iOS) of Evinrude’s sales staff.

Brand Elements

While I didn’t create many of the brand elements, outside of adding in some additional complimentary colors to their brand’s palette, it helps to give context to what this brand represents and why I made some of the choices I made.

Navigation Structure

01 Home

This screen acts as the applications primary landing page. From here, sales people can quickly access featured ads, Performance reports, and Build a Quote.

02 Engines

From the Engines section of the application, the sales person can walk their customers through more information and build a quote for Evinrude’s products.

03 Rigging

The Rigging section allows the sale person to show their customer the various performance and aesthetic enhancements they can add to their products.

04 More

By tapping on the “More” tab, the sales person can access all of the other sections of the application, including Contacts, Training, Global Asset Search, and Settings.

Home Screen

This screen is the primary landing page. From here, sales member can quickly access the featured advertisements; as well as the Performance reports and Build a Quote sections of the application.

It was important to make these CTAs quick to read and understand for users to access the content and help their customers on the fly.

Build a Quote

The Build a Quote section lets the Evinrude sales member to walk through a custom build of an engine with his or her customer.

After completing a build, the sales member can send the configuration and any related media files to the customer.
